Numeracy is more than learning math facts. Numeracy is the ability to use mathematical knowledge and skills to think critically and problem solve in everyday life. Learners are given the opportunity to communicate and justify their thinking, as well as make connections to prior learning. Students problem solve through critical thinking, reasoning, mental math, and estimation.
Numeracy enables us to understand, interpret, create, communicate and interact with ideas, others, and the world around us. Numeracy is critical to the success of all learners and their well being in our communities. It is fundamental to all learning from cradle to grave.
